Merger of Healthymize and Beyond Verbal raises $9M

Two digital health startups, Healthymize and Beyond Verbal, announced their merger on the 10th of December. The two startups formed a new entity named Vocalis Health and will focus on monitoring health through voice analysis. Moreover, Vocalis Health also announced a $9 million funding round led by venture capital firm aMoon, set to be completed by the end of the month.

Vocalis Health will focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and voice analysis applications for the health sector. The company’s technology allows healthcare providers to assess a person’s health based on his or her voice, in conditions that influence the vocal cords such as heart and respiratory diseases and depression. Vocalis Health’s technology is set to hit the market in 2020.

Healthymize was founded in 2016 by Dr. Shady Hassan and Daniel Aronovich. The two previously met at a hackathon at the Technion. They formed Healthymize, based in Haifa, to monitor patients with voice-affecting diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Beyond Verbal was founded in 2012 by Yoav Hoshen, Yuval Mor, and Yuval Rabin. The company began by offering emotion analytics based on vocal intonations. Its tech also proved useful in detecting Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) patients and indicating the existence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, congestive heart failure, and sleep apnea.
